The Dog Ate It:
What happens when your dog gets into a pack that still has food in it? Sometimes the damage is extensive!
In this video, I show how I repaired multiple large holes in a pack after a dog got to it. The same basic approach works for patching many types of holes in gear.
The key is to:
- Choose patching fabric with a similar amount of stretch to the original fabric.
- Secure the edges of the patch to intact fabric on the item.
- Then secure the edges of the hole to the patch.
The pack will have scars going forward — but sometimes scars tell an important story.
And yes, sometimes the dog really did eat it.
It may not look like it did before—but it will function like it did. The pack will have scars going forward. And sometimes scars are reminders of the adventures, the miles, and the things we love that help get us through them.
