Making Gaiters is a 7 minute video that documents how I sew the gaiters for Heidi Garner. All of the gaiters are handmade in small batches by me.
Most of the gaiters I make are for trail runners and through-hikers. I’m a trail runner too, and I think about how these will actually be used as I make them. I care about the quality and consistency of every pair because I know what I want from my own gear.
This video shows the process from cutting the gaiter blanks through the finished pieces, with short notes along the way explaining what I’m doing.
I first met Heidi of Heidi Garner Studio when I interviewed her for a school project. A few months later, she reached out to me about making gaiters. She sold the first pairs at Black Canyon 2026, and that collaboration was a big part of what took Achievement Repair and Gear from a sewing hobby to an actual business.
Since then, we’ve continued to collaborate and support each other’s work.
A big thank you to Heidi. Without her support, there would be no Achievement Repair and Gear.
Thanks for watching!

Heidi’s amazing artwork makes them bright and colorful.
