Making an Ice Bandana

Making an Ice Bandana is a demonstration video that makes an ice bandana by up-cycling an old race shirt. You cut off the bottom 10-12″ of the shirt, sew it up into a long tube, leaving a gap to add ice. Then you cut the tube completely in the middle of the gap. This allows you to turn the tube right side out, where there are less seams and therefore less risk of chafing. Two options for finishing off the opening presented. It’s quick to sew, and a great use of a race shirt that isn’t being worn. A “grocery” clip is used to secure the ice for a great fit.

This ice bandana is easy to make, adjustable, no bounce, and very effective in keeping runners cool.

This is an inexpensive and very effective cooling device that one of my clients taught me how to make. That client completed Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run in sub 24 hours this summer.
