I took this picture on a run a few weeks ago. We are so fortunate to be able to run in this beautiful area. The Sacramento to Auburn backyard is truly a special place. So is the running community.
About The Company:
Running gear is expensive, and should be built to last. But let’s be honest, most runners have at least a few pieces of gear shoved to the back of the closet: it doesn’t quite fit, something’s broken, or it just doesn’t work for you anymore. A lot of the time, these issues are cosmetic, but sometimes, they can lead to real problems—like your fuel falling out of a pocket with a hole in it, or worse, your car keys going missing mid-run.
At Achievement Repair and Gear, we specialize in fixing and altering running gear so you can keep using the gear you already own and keep it out of the landfill. Whether it’s patching up a hole in your leggings, replacing a zipper on your hydration pack, or adding a zipper pocket to your favorite jacket, we’re here to help. Our goal is to help runners save money, minimize their environmental impact, and make sure their gear fits just right.
Mission:
Achievement Repair and Gear’s mission is to repair your running gear and keep it out of the landfill, but when it’s time for new gear, we customize it to match your goals and make it flexible to adapt to new challenges. We make responsible choices and responsible gear.
Vision:
We’re here to help ultra and trail runners keep their gear in good shape. Whether that’s fixing something that’s worn out or adding something new to make it work better for you. We have been doing custom repairs and alterations and will continue this going forward. We’re all about fixing up the gear you already own and keeping it out of the landfill. We also love zippers, we can add a zipper pocket to almost anything. And, we can replace a zipper on a pack, when most repair shops can’t or won’t. If it needs a stitch or two, we’ve got you covered.
Right now, we are collaborating with Heidi Garner who is putting her original art work on on our regular and new zipper gaiters. The is our first product line. We are hoping to add additional products and to start selling our own products at races within the year.
We are limiting our service area to Sacramento to Auburn California. This way we can stay connected with the local trail running community. We want to keep it small, personal, and focused on runners, as we keep working on new products and services. See our product page for a sneak peek at some of our ideas.
Eventually, we hope to have a presence at race expos, doing repairs and selling items from a pop up. But, we will continue to volunteer too. We also want to improve our website, adding videos, more blog topics and even DYI projects. All the while we are aware of and try to minimize the impact of textiles on the environment.
Values:
I want to research ways we can make a difference and reduce our environmental footprint without greenwashing. I want to be an ethical human being. Profits will not be placed above people or doing the right thing.
I do reserve the right to decline doing business with anyone for any reason; but I will never discriminate regarding: age, sex, gender identity, race, ethnicity, VO2 Max, training status, or even if you like to just run roads.
